An improved voltage doubler in a standard CMOS technology

Proceedings of 1997 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Circuits and Systems in the Information Age ISCAS '97, 2002
A charge pump cell is used to make a voltage doubler using improved serial switches. The PMOS transistor used for the serial switch is analyzed and a model ready for simulation is described. The importance of capacitors is shown with plots of efficiency versus load and stray capacitors.

A feasibility study on a voltage-doubler-type rectenna

2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), 2016
We propose a voltage-doubler-type rectenna as a simple, compact and lightweight rectenna. As a feasibility study, we evaluate a 2.45 GHz voltage-doubler-type rectenna, in which Schottky diodes are mounted both in series and in shunt at the feed point of a half-wave dipole antenna, from measurements and circuit simulations. The measured rf-dc conversion

Voltage doubler application in isolated resonant converters

31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. IECON 2005., 2005
Two basic conditions of voltage-doubler adopted in isolated DC/DC converter are analyzed. According to the basic conditions, that voltage-doubler can be both adopted in LC series resonant converter and LLC multi-resonant converter. Operation characteristic of voltage-doubler adopted in isolated DC/DC converter is described in detail based on the ...

A Silicon-based Voltage Doubler: Preliminary Results

2006 3rd International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2006
This paper presents experimental results of a DC-DC converter based on the SC approach. In this design to power digital circuitry a 1.5 V voltage source has been used to emulate the energy to be supplied by a single battery. The voltage source is useful also to start the times2 operation.

Phase Doubler for high power voltage regulators

2010 Twenty-Fifth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2010
As the power consumption of microprocessors increases, a high phase count voltage regulator is required to meet the power hunger (>180A) and high efficiency requirements. In general, the higher the phase number count, the more PWM outputs and current sensing inputs are required for the PWM controller.

A new high efficiency CMOS voltage doubler

Proceedings of CICC 97 - Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, 2002
A charge pump cell is used to make a voltage doubler using improved serial switches. The PMOS transistor used for the serial switch is analyzed and a model suitable for simulation is described. The importance of capacitors is shown with plots of efficiency versus load and stray capacitance.

From a voltage divider to a voltage doubler for a large DC gain converter

2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015
A classical step-down switched-capacitor cell is transformed into a step-up cell. By inserting it in a boost converter, a single-switch, low voltage stress, non-pulsating input current, large dc gain hybrid converter is proposed. The theoretical, simulation and experimental results prove the merits of the simple new solution in comparison with the ...

A low-voltage high-efficiency voltage doubler for thermoelectric energy harvesting

2013 IEEE International Conference of Electron Devices and Solid-state Circuits, 2013
This paper presents a low-voltage high-efficiency voltage doubler for thermoelectric energy harvesting. A negative charge pump is used to reduce on-resistance of PMOSFET load switches. Additional circuitry for achieving high efficiency just requires small chip-area and low-cost. The voltage doubler is implemented in 0.13-μm 1.2V CMOS process.

Switch bootstrapping technique for voltage doublers and double charge pumps

2011 IEEE International Symposium of Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2011
In this work we propose a technique for bootstrapping CMOS switches in voltage doublers and double charge pumps. The technique prevents short-circuit losses, improves driving capability, and enables efficient operation at low supply voltages. The effectiveness of our approach is verified through simulations of design examples, which also illustrate the

A ZCS-PWM voltage-doubler rectifier with high power factor

2009 4th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2008
This paper analyses and designs a zero-current-switching single-phase high power factor voltage-doubler rectifier. The proposed rectifier combines the conventional pulse-width- modulation technique, soft commutation technique and instantaneous average line current control to promote the circuit performance. Comparison with conventional boost rectifier,
