Electrical Field Change of an XLPE Bounded Air-filled Spherical Cavity during DC Voltage Decreasing and Voltage Polarity Reversal

2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC), 2020
Partial discharge testing under DC voltage can be used to detect possible insulation defect of extruded HVDC cable system. And electric field distribution and field change at the defect is a decisive factor of partial discharge. An XLPE bounded spherical air cavity model was established in this paper, and electrical field change during applied DC ...

The Influence of Nanocomposite Filler on the Lifetime Performance of Polypropylene Under Voltage Polarity Reversal

2019 2nd International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Power Systems (ICHVEPS), 2019
Many researchers are investigating the feasibility of using polypropylene in HVDC cables. To understand the basic electrical properties of nanocomposite polypropylene, this work investigates the influence of nanostructuring on DC breakdown strength, life under periodic voltage polarity reversals and space charge accumulation properties.

Effect of temperature on space charge behavior in epoxy resin under polarity reversal voltage

2016 IEEE International Conference on Dielectrics (ICD), 2016
At high temperature and high electric field, the accumulation of space charge would take place in epoxy resin which is used in ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) dry bushings. The space charge accumulated would distort electric field distribution in epoxy resin under polarity reversal voltage.

Observation of space charge accumulation behavior in cross-linked polyethylene at voltage polarity reversal

2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP), 2015
Space charge accumulation behaviors at voltage polarity reversal in cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and in improved XLPE for dc cable are observed using pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method. A huge amount of so called a packet like charge, which was enough to enhance the electric field significantly, is generated in XLPE at the polarity reversal ...

Calculation of voltage available from polarity reversal of a superswarf x-ray machine

2013 19th IEEE Pulsed Power Conference (PPC), 2013
SuperSwarf machines deliver 30kA across a 5MV AK gap to power a high-impedance paraxial diode for X-ray radiography. In order to accommodate a positive polarity rod-pinch diode, which would offer greater radiographic resolution and contrast, the machine polarity must be reversed.

Transient charge injection from blocking electrodes in transformer oil on the reversal of voltage polarity

Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena — Annual Report 1987, 1987
In high resistivity oil, the electric field distribution is well described by a model based on charge carrier generation through the dissociation of a species of ion pairs in the liquid bulk. As liquid conductivity increases, the close agreement between model and experimental results weakens.

Interface charge behavior of multi-layer oil–paper insulation under DC and polarity reversal voltages

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2015
Transformer oil, insulating paper, high voltage direct current (HVDC) bushings and on-load tap changer (OLTC) are essential parts of converter transformers. When the power flow of the HVDC system is reversed or a sudden outrage occurs, the charge field will deform the dielectric internal electric field, thus easily leading to the occurrence of ...

Evaluation of Electrophoretic Migration by Optical and Current Responses to Cyclic-Polarity-Reversed Triangular Voltage

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2011
We studied the electrophoretic migration of electrophoretic inks by measuring the total reflection at the interface between the electrode and the ink solvent simultaneous with the current response to a cyclic-polarity-reversed triangular voltage.

Model of Polarization Reversal Kinetics after an Excitation by an Asymmetric Rectangular Shaped Voltage Pulse

physica status solidi (b), 1990
Ce modele ajuste la reponse du courant a une pulsation asymetrique de la tension. Dans certains cas, on observe une deviation a partir de ce modele. La, la maille entiere ne peut etre consideree comme une maille uniforme.

The electric field distribution in oil-cardboard composited insulation system under a Polarity reversed voltage

2009 IEEE 9th International Conference on the Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2009
Taken a composited insulation system of oil and cardboard filled in two parallel tabulate electrodes as research object, the electric field distribution in the composited insulation system, which is stressed by a Polarity reversed voltage, has been studied. This is carried out by means of establish and solve a differential equation describing the field
