Effectiveness of Dynamic Voltage Restorer for Unbalance Voltage Mitigation and Voltage Profile Improvement in Secondary Distribution System

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2018
To make a secondary distribution system operate at its optimal performance, the use of an advanced power custom power device known as dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) has been proposed and researched. Optimum performance means acceptable voltage profile, increased reliability of supply, no overloading of cables and distribution transformers, the absence ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A Local Control Approach to Voltage Regulation in Distribution Networks

open access: yes, 2013
This paper address the problem of voltage regulation in power distribution networks with deep penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) without any explicit communication between the buses in the network.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimized Solar Photovoltaic Generation in a Real Local Distribution Network

open access: yes, 2017
Remarkable penetration of renewable energy in electric networks, despite its valuable opportunities, such as power loss reduction and loadability improvements, has raised concerns for system operators. Such huge penetration can lead to a violation of the

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Voltage profile program for the Kennedy Space Center electric power distribution system [PDF]

open access: yes
The Kennedy Space Center voltage profile program computes voltages at all busses greater than 1 Kv in the network under various conditions of load. The computation is based upon power flow principles and utilizes a Newton-Raphson iterative load flow ...

Impact ionization fronts in Si diodes: Numerical evidence of superfast propagation due to nonlocalized preionization

open access: yes, 2010
We present numerical evidence of a novel propagation mode for superfast impact ionization fronts in high-voltage Si $p^+$-$n$-$n^+$ structures. In nonlinear dynamics terms, this mode corresponds to a pulled front propagating into an unstable state in the

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
