New factor for voltage sags characterization

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2012
A new factor which allows characterizing voltage sags in an individual way is presented in this paper. The factor acts revises and identifies voltage sags in a univocal way.

Dual 3-Phase Bridge Multilevel Inverters for AC Drives with Voltage Sag Ride-through Capability

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
One of the main power quality issues that can affect variable speed drives (VSDs) is the occurrence of voltage sags on their AC power supply. Voltage sags can affect the inverter nominal operation, leading to a malfunction of the AC motor.

Mitigation of Voltage Sags in CIGRE Low Voltage Distribution Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Any problem in voltage in a power network is undesirable as it aggravates the quality of the power. Power electronic devices such as Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) etc.

Propagation of Voltage Sags and Under-voltages through Scott Transformers

open access: yes, 2021
Scott transformers are a class of equipment thatconverts three-phase power into two-phase, four-phase and eventhree-phase power and vice versa. This paper investigates howvoltage sags originating from the main three-phase networkpropagate through these ...

Fast Transient Hybrid Neuro Fuzzy Controller for STATCOM During Unbalanced Voltage Sags [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2018
A static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is generally used to regulate voltage and improve transient stability in transmission and distribution networks. This is achieved by controlling reactive power exchange between STATCOM and the grid.

Shunt compensation for mitigation of harmonics, voltage sags, and flickers using new STATCOM control scheme

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Economics, 2022
Voltage sags flickers, and harmonics are major problems associated with power quality and are of concern to power companies and consumers. Therefore, efforts to improve power quality have increased. This study explores the dynamic performance of a static

A Strategy to Eliminate Instantaneous Active Power Oscillations and Reduce High Currents in the DFIG During Asymmetric Voltage Sags

open access: yesEletrônica de Potência, 2019
Wind turbines are widespread around the globe, and the number of windfarms connected to the grid is continually increasing. The Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) plays an important role, since it is one of the most used configurations for wind power

A Voltage Sag Pattern Classification Technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents an investigation on pattern classification techniques applied to voltage sag monitoring data. Similar pattern groups or sets of classes, resulting from a voltage sag classification, represent disturbance categories that may be used as indexes for a cause/effect disturbance analysis.
