Bidirectional Voltage Source Converter for Microgrid

2019
Microgrid is a small-scale power supply network associated with Distributed Energy Resources. Nowadays DC microgrid has become a new subject of research due to addition of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles for small buildings and residential. In this paper, we have taken review of previous published work and based on that we proposed solar-

Capacitor Voltage Ripple Minimization in Voltage Source Converter for HVDC Applications

2019 AEIT HVDC International Conference (AEIT HVDC), 2019
In this paper an exhaustive study on the effects of the circulating currents in the modular multilevel converter in HVDC applications is presented. In the first part, an analytical study of the converter is reported, with emphasis on the capacitors voltage ripple in presence of different circulating currents.

DC current source to voltage source CT-based converter

2007 International Aegean Conference on Electrical Machines and Power Electronics, 2007
As generally known there is no energy transfer between a dc current and a current transformer. After a brief overview of other methods for tapping energy from the high voltage direct current transmission line, this paper presents the concept of a new dc to ac current source converter utilizing a current transformer.

PEBB Based Multifunctional Shunt Voltage Sourced Converters

IECON 2007 - 33rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2007
The structure of most converters used in three-phase systems is similar, with the capacity of energy storage and switching frequency being the main distinguishing features. However, dedicated control structures limit the application despite the commonality of the hardware. A novel control architecture is presented that provides maximum flexibility with

Managing zero sequence in voltage source converter

Conference Record of the 2002 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. 37th IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.02CH37344), 2003
The 3-phase bridge voltage-source converter (VSC) which has been and continues to be the work-horse of variable-speed AC-motor drives is making penetration into the electric utility environment. In the electric utility environment, there is a greater emphasis on: (i) grounding and (ii) the need of the VSC to survive all conceivable faults.

Voltage Source Converters in Distributed Generation Systems

2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008
A large number of distributed generation (DG) units are being integrated into power systems at distribution level. Many of the DG units may be connected into power systems with power electronic interfaces, in particular, voltage source converters. Consequently, the operation and control modes of the voltage source converters determine the performance ...

Single-phase composite PWM voltage source converter

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2002
This paper proposes a novel circuit of a single-phase voltage source converter. A pulsewidth modulation (PWM) strategy is utilized to obtain a sinusoidal input current. The proposed circuit has an auxiliary arm for the bridge circuit and can be operated by a composite PWM strategy which contributes to reduce the ripple in the current.

Tuning harmonic absorption of voltage source converters

Proceedings of 14th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power - ICHQP 2010, 2010
This paper develops a tool for controlling the harmonic absorption of hysteretic controlled voltage source converters that are connected to a power system. Each VSC is controlled by a state feedback control input to a hysteretic comparator. A suitable model of the converter is first developed by including the state feedback gains and hysteretic ...

Autonomous Load Sharing of Voltage Source Converters

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005
An autonomous load-sharing technique for parallel connected three-phase voltage source converters is presented. An improved power-frequency droop scheme computes and sets the phase angle of the voltage source converter (VSC) directly to yield more rapid real power sharing without sacrificing frequency regulation.
