Voltage stability index for online voltage stability assessment

2015 North American Power Symposium (NAPS), 2015
This paper proposes a voltage stability index to predict voltage collapse in power system. The index is based on maximum loading capability of the bus combined with a thevenin equivalent method for the aggregated representation. The technique is applied to transmission test system. Using thevenin equivalent calculated by fast load flow or PMU data, the

Voltage stability preventive control using a new voltage stability index

2004 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2004. PowerCon 2004., 2005
Effective voltage control schemes have been brought to attention in a considerable number of studies, as power system loads are located farther away from power plants and reactive power losses have tended to increase due to the heavier power flow with high load growth and long distance transmission.

Local Voltage-Stability Index Using Tellegen's Theorem

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2006
Summary form only given. In the paper, the Tellegen's theorem and adjoint networks are used to derive a new, local voltage-stability index. The new approach makes it possible to determine the Thevenin's parameters in a different way than adaptive curve-fitting techniques, from two consecutive phasor measurements.

A New Voltage Stability Index Considering Voltage Limits

2006 IEEE PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2006
Recently, concerns over voltage instability phenomena have been increasing, because significant voltage drops are regarded crucial in stable operations. Thus, effective voltage control schemes using voltage stability indices have been brought to attention in a considerable number of studies.

Probabilistic voltage stability indexes

IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1991
A probabilistic voltage stability index is proposed: the expected voltage instability proximity. To account for the system elements' forced outages, elements are represented by a two-state model. The resulting statespace is truncated by using a practical technique.

Voltage stability assessment in power systems using line voltage stability index

Computers & Electrical Engineering, 2018
Abstract The stressed operating conditions of transmission systems may lead to voltage collapse with consequent interruption in power supply. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously monitor the voltage stability of power system to avoid voltage collapse.

Technique for voltage stability assessment using newly developed line voltage stability index

Energy Conversion and Management, 2008
This paper presents an efficient technique for voltage stability assessment using a newly developed line voltage stability index that becomes half at a collapse point. Power flow equations have been used to identify critical lines, which may be vulnerable during an increased loading condition.

Load Stability Index for Short-term Voltage Stability Assessment

2019 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2019
Short-term voltage stability is closely related to the dynamics and stability of load models. After the identification of the load model parameters, the load stability can be analyzed. In this paper, a load model parameter based load stability index is proposed, with desirable properties of case independency, sufficiency and monotonicity. The composite

On-line voltage stability based contingency ranking using fast voltage stability index (FVSI)

IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003
Voltage instability is one phenomenon that could happen in a power system due to its stressed condition. The result would be the occurrence of voltage collapse which leads to total blackout to the whole system. Therefore voltage collapse prediction is important in power system planning and operation so that the occurrence of voltage collapse due to ...

Long term voltage stability thevenin index using voltage locus method

2014 IEEE PES General Meeting | Conference & Exposition, 2014
Monitoring long term voltage stability of the power grid is necessary to ensure the secure operation of the system. In this paper, the voltage locus of the load phasor as a function of the load increase is studied is studied from a geometric perspective.
