Voltage stability index of radial Distribution network
2011 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical and Computer Technology, 2011Distribution networks experience distinct change from a low to high load level every day. Hence, a major concern in power distribution networks, which have surfaced fairly, recently is the problem of voltage stability. In this paper in the first phase of work an attempt has been made for performing voltage stability analysis of electrical power ...

Effectiveness analysis of voltage stability margin index
POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002The concept of the validity of the power system voltage stability margin index (VSMI) and its definition are presented. For a simple system, a comprehensive analysis for the validity of VSMI is given. For complex systems, the validity of VSMI is illustrated by examples. The linearity of VSMI is also evaluated.

A New Line Voltage Stability Index (NLVSI) For Voltage Stability Assessment
2019Power system is probably one of the most complex dynamical systems. In these systems, active and reactive power demand is increasing day by day, other way it can be said that the stress on these systems is increasing. Under these stressed conditions, they are operating at the stability limits to meet their load demand.

Synchrophasor-Based Real-Time Voltage Stability Index
2006 IEEE PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2006This paper presents a new online voltage stability index (VSI) that predicts the power system steady-state voltage stability limit. Starting with deriving a method to predict three types of maximum transferable power (real power, reactive power, and apparent power) of a single-source power system, a new VSI based on the calculated load margins is ...

Fast calculation of a voltage stability index
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1992The minimum singular value of the power flow Jacobian matrix has been used as a static voltage stability index, indicating the distance between the studied operating point and the steady-state voltage stability limit. A fast method to calculate the minimum singular value and the corresponding (left and right) singular vectors is presented.

Student Conference on Research and Development, 2003
Since a couple of decades ago, voltage stability assessment has received increasing attention due to the complexity of power systems. With the increase in power demand and limited power sources has caused the system to operate at its maximum capacity. Therefore, a study that is able to determine the maximum capacity limit before voltage collapse must ...

A new node voltage stability index based on local voltage phasors
Electric Power Systems Research, 2009The paper proposes an equivalent system model (ESM), which includes effects of both local network and system outside the local network. A new node voltage stability index called the equivalent node voltage collapse index (ENVCI), which is based on ESM and uses only local voltage phasors, is presented.

Energy Conversion and Management, 2012
Abstract Management of reactive power resources is vital for stable and secure operation of power systems in the view point of voltage stability. This paper deals with the management of on-load tap changers (OLTCs) and dynamic VAR sources (including synchronous generators, synchronous condensers, and shunt reactive power compensators) to improve ...

Comparison of voltage stability indexes considering dynamic load
2011 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference, 2011Eventhough voltage stability is a dynamic problem, static indexes are still important parameters in voltage stability analysis. Some important voltage stability indexes are reviewed and a comparison of their performance under dynamic load is given in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of each index are demonstrated.

A voltage stability index for radial distribution networks
2007 42nd International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2007This paper presents a voltage stability index for identifying the most sensitive bus to the voltage collapse in the radial distribution networks. The developed index is based on the transferred active and reactive power of the distribution line. The performance of the index is tested on different loading conditions for different load models and ...
