Voltage stability preventive control using a new voltage stability index

2004 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2004. PowerCon 2004., 2005
Effective voltage control schemes have been brought to attention in a considerable number of studies, as power system loads are located farther away from power plants and reactive power losses have tended to increase due to the heavier power flow with high load growth and long distance transmission.

Probabilistic voltage stability indexes

IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1991
A probabilistic voltage stability index is proposed: the expected voltage instability proximity. To account for the system elements' forced outages, elements are represented by a two-state model. The resulting statespace is truncated by using a practical technique.

A New Voltage Stability Index Considering Voltage Limits

2006 IEEE PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2006
Recently, concerns over voltage instability phenomena have been increasing, because significant voltage drops are regarded crucial in stable operations. Thus, effective voltage control schemes using voltage stability indices have been brought to attention in a considerable number of studies.

Fast calculation of a voltage stability index

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1992
The minimum singular value of the power flow Jacobian matrix has been used as a static voltage stability index, indicating the distance between the studied operating point and the steady-state voltage stability limit. A fast method to calculate the minimum singular value and the corresponding (left and right) singular vectors is presented.

A New Line Voltage Stability Index (NLVSI) For Voltage Stability Assessment

2019
Power system is probably one of the most complex dynamical systems. In these systems, active and reactive power demand is increasing day by day, other way it can be said that the stress on these systems is increasing. Under these stressed conditions, they are operating at the stability limits to meet their load demand.

Load Stability Index for Short-term Voltage Stability Assessment

2019 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2019
Short-term voltage stability is closely related to the dynamics and stability of load models. After the identification of the load model parameters, the load stability can be analyzed. In this paper, a load model parameter based load stability index is proposed, with desirable properties of case independency, sufficiency and monotonicity. The composite

A Linear Voltage Stability Index to Estimate the Distance to Voltage Collapse

Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2008
AbstractThis paper proposes a new voltage stability index (VSI) that has a more or less linear characteristic, and thus can provide better estimation of the distance to voltage collapse. It requires only the normal power flow solution and the type-1 low voltage solution of the critical or weakest bus of the system. The effectiveness of the proposed VSI

Voltage stability index of radial Distribution network

2011 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical and Computer Technology, 2011
Distribution networks experience distinct change from a low to high load level every day. Hence, a major concern in power distribution networks, which have surfaced fairly, recently is the problem of voltage stability. In this paper in the first phase of work an attempt has been made for performing voltage stability analysis of electrical power ...

Effectiveness analysis of voltage stability margin index

POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002
The concept of the validity of the power system voltage stability margin index (VSMI) and its definition are presented. For a simple system, a comprehensive analysis for the validity of VSMI is given. For complex systems, the validity of VSMI is illustrated by examples. The linearity of VSMI is also evaluated.

A voltage stability index for radial distribution networks

2007 42nd International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2007
This paper presents a voltage stability index for identifying the most sensitive bus to the voltage collapse in the radial distribution networks. The developed index is based on the transferred active and reactive power of the distribution line. The performance of the index is tested on different loading conditions for different load models and ...
