Electrowetting-Induced Oil Film Entrapment and Instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the spreading at variable rate of a water drop on a smooth hydrophobic substrate in an ambient oil bath driven by electrowetting. We find that a thin film of oil is entrapped under the drop.

A Framework for Qualitative Analysis of Voltage Stability Indices (VSIs)

open access: yesIEEE Access
Voltage stability assessment (VSA) is invariably an essential step in the satisfactory operation of power system. For this, several Voltage Stability Indices (VSIs) based on 1) Existence of solution for voltage equations, 2) Maximum power transfer (MPT ...

Observation of Supershell Structure in Alkali Metal Nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Nanowires are formed by indenting and subsequently retracting two pieces of sodium metal. Their cross-section gradually reduces upon retraction and the diameters can be obtained from the conductance.
