Decision Support for Maintenance Management of High Voltage Components
2006 IEEE 8th International Conference on Properties and applications of Dielectric Materials, 2006Transmission and distribution components in the power network are capital intensive assets, which force the owners of these assets to utilise them in the most efficient way. Efficient utilisation demands a thorough analysis of the relation between the assets performance and the stakeholders' expectations.

Graphene specimen support technique for low voltage STEM imaging
Journal of Electron Microscopy, 2017The scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) mode of today's field emission scanning electron microscopes enables sub-nanometer resolution imaging. Graphene is a single-atom thick, electrically conductive material, making it an excellent specimen support for the low voltage STEM imaging of nanometer-sized objects such as viruses.

Voltage sags are one of the main problems in transmission and distribution grids with high penetration of distributed generation. This paper proposes a voltage support control scheme for grid-connected power sources under voltage sags. The control is based on the injection of reactive current with a variable ratio between positive and negative ...

Distributed μ-STATCOM for voltage support and harmonic mitigation on low voltage networks
2017 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2017Proliferation of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the low voltage network comes with a myriad of power quality problems such as voltage fluctuations and poor harmonic performance. Distributed mitigation solutions are being proposed for the low voltage network which are similar to state-of-the-art solutions in medium voltage networks.

Emergency Support Scheme for Sudden Voltage Drops in Low-Voltage Distribution Networks
Recent Advances in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Formerly Recent Patents on Electrical & Electronic Engineering)Background: With the continuous increase in the penetration rate of distributed generation (DG) in distribution networks, the pressure on energy supply has been effectively alleviated. However, its impact on the voltage of distribution networks is gradually becoming apparent, and traditional reactive power voltage support methods are struggling to ...

Voltage support control for distributed generation systems
Distributed Generation (DG) - defined as small-scale electricity generation near the end user - is becoming more prevalent in recent years with an increasing penetration of renewable generation emerging in utility distribution grids. Flexible operation of these DG units is a major objective for such smart grids. In the operational control framework, DGopenaire +1 more source

Mathematical modelling of loads and voltage support devices for power system voltage stability
APSCOM-97. International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management, 1997This paper investigates the mathematical modelling of loads and voltage support devices on the dynamic voltage stability of power systems. The analysis focuses on the potential effects of the interactions among loads, excitation system, LTC and SVC on the voltage stability.
