Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

VFD-based Coordinated Centralized/decentralized Control to Support Offshore Electrical Power Systems with Wind Power Penetration

open access: yesEletrônica de Potência
This paper proposes a coordinated centralized/decentralized control designed to concomitantly manage the power factor and mitigate voltage variations at the main feeder of an oil and gas offshore platform.

Adaptive Gains Control Scheme for PMSG-Based Wind Power Plant to Provide Voltage Regulation Service

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
High-penetration wind power will count towards a significant portion of future power grid. This significant role requires wind turbine generators (WTGs) to contribute to voltage and reactive power support.

Interaction induced magnetic field asymmetry of nonlinear mesoscopic electrical transport

open access: yes, 2005
We demonstrate that the nonlinear I-V characteristics of a two probe conductor is not an even function of magnetic field. While the conductance of a two-probe conductor is even in magnetic field, we find that already the contributions to the current ...

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

The role of smart sensor networks for voltage monitoring in smart grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The large-scale deployment of the Smart Grid paradigm will support the evolution of conventional electrical power systems toward active, flexible and self-healing web energy networks composed of distributed and cooperative energy resources.

Dynamic Voltage Support of Converters during Grid Faults in Accordance with National Grid Code Requirements

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
To ensure system stability, national grid codes often require converter-based generators to provide fault-ride-through (FRT) capabilities and dynamic voltage support, according to which they should stay connected and support the voltage during fault ...

An improved fault control strategy for virtual synchronous generator with the coordination of STATCOM during unbalanced fault

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is a good solution for stabilizing the power system with high penetration of renewable energy. However, in case of serious unbalanced voltage disturbance/fault, the conventional VSG may lose voltage, inertia, and ...

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.
