Adjustable speed drives supplied with unbalanced voltages: Study under complex voltage unbalance factor parameter

2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition: Latin America, 2008
The different unbalance definitions applied to three-phase networks are presented shortly, and the unbalance causes and effects on induction motors and ASD are commented. The behavior of an ASD is analyzed when it is fed by an unbalanced voltage centering the attention on the characteristic and non-characteristic harmonic, rms values, K-derating factor,

Effects of various unbalanced voltages on the operation performance of an induction motor under the same voltage unbalance factor condition

Electric Power Systems Research, 1998
Abstract This paper investigates the effects of different unbalanced voltages with the same voltage unbalance factor (VUF) on the performance of a three-phase induction motor and its feedback influence on the power system. Under eight different voltage unbalance conditions, the performance of a three-phase induction motor was measured through a real ...

Voltage Unbalance Management for High-Speed Railway Considering the Impact of Large-Scale DFIG-Based Wind Farm

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2020
The worst voltage unbalance (VU) problems are aroused by single-phase 25-kV traction power supply systems (TPSSs) of high-speed railways (HSRs) in a three-phase grid, especially when connected to a weak remote grid which is around a number of large-scale

Modeling, control and voltage unbalance compensation in a four-switch rectifier with input power factor correction

4th Annual International Power Electronics, Drive Systems and Technologies Conference, 2013
In this paper, a small signal model is proposed for four-switch rectifier with input power factor correction. The required transfer functions are determined and calculated for a typical rectifier. This model is used to design an appropriate controller with defined characteristic to improve the rectifier performance.

Simultaneous Voltage Regulation and Unbalance Compensation in Distribution Systems With an Information-Driven Learning Approach

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics
High penetration and uneven allocation of single-phase and three-phase loads together with photovoltaic (PV) sources in low-voltage distribution systems can result in voltage unbalance and voltage regulation challenges.

Unified active power filters for source voltage unbalance/current harmonics compensation and power factor correction

30th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2004. IECON 2004, 2005
This paper presents a unified control scheme for series-type active power filter combined with shunt passive filter to compensate the source voltage unbalance/current harmonics and to correct the power factor simultaneously. The phase angle and the reference voltage for unbalanced voltage/current harmonics compensation are derived from the positive ...

The Measurement & Analysis of Voltage Unbalance Factor at LV Customer of Three-Phase Four-Wire System

Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, 2004
Most of LV customer have applied the 3-phase four wire system distribution system because it has advantage of supplying both of 1-phase at 3-phase loads simultaneously. Due to its structural simplicity, it is more convenient for use rather than the conventional separated scheme.
