dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Enhanced 3D Turbulence Models Sensitivity Assessment Under Real Extreme Conditions: Case Study, Santa Catarina River, Mexico

open access: yesHydrology
This study compares enhanced turbulence models in a natural river channel 3D simulation under extreme hydrometeorological conditions. Using ANSYS Fluent 2024 R1 and the Volume of Fluid scheme, five RANS closures were evaluated: realizable k–ε ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Viscous Models Comparison in Water Impact of Twin 2D Falling Wedges Simulation by Different Numerical Solvers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Maritime Technology, 2018
In this paper, symmetric water entry of twin wedges is investigated for deadrise angle of 30 degree. Three numerical simulation of a symmetric impact, considering rigid body dynamic equations of motion in two-phase flow is presented.

Numerical analysis of the liquid ejection due to the gaseous jet impact through computational fluid dynamics

open access: yesREM: International Engineering Journal
Metal droplets generated by an impinging jet, play an important role in metal refining processes, mainly in oxygen steelmaking, where the droplets are ejected into the slag phase.

Viscous numerical wave tank for Bragg resonance by cnoidal and Stokes waves

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2018
In this study, a quadtreeadaptive viscous numerical wave tank in which the free surface is resolved by the volume of fluid method is established to solve Bragg resonance caused by Stokes and cnoidal waves.
