Global hydroelastic model for springing and whipping based on a free-surface CFD code (OpenFOAM)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2014
: The theoretical background and a numerical solution procedure for a time domain hydroelastic code are presented in this paper. The code combines a VOF-based free surface flow solver with a flexible body motion solver where the body linear elastic ...

Transient Simulation of Diffusion-Limited Electrodeposition Using Volume of Fluid (VOF) Method

open access: yesJournal of The Electrochemical Society, 2023
A numerical model utilizing the volume of fluid (VOF) method is proposed to simulate the transient shape changes of the deposit front, considering the diffusion-limited electrodeposition process. Modeling equations are proposed to accurately handle transport phenomena in both electrolyte (fluid) and deposit (solid).

Full-Eulerian Finite-Difference Simulation of Fluid Flow in Hyperelastic Wavy Channel

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2010
Fluid flows interacting with deformable wavy channel are simulated by a newly developed full-Eulerian simulation method. A single set of the governing equations for fluid and solid is employed, and a volume-of-fluid (VOF) function is used for describing ...

Particle detection in VOF-simulations with OpenFOAM

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2020
The aim of this work is to improve the particle detection in the phase field of volume of fluid (VOF) simulations included in OpenFOAM. The reliable evaluation of the particle properties is a prerequisite for coupling the VOF method for the primary ...
