Breast Density Estimation: Correlation of Mammographic Density and MR Volumetric Density
2003Studies have demonstrated a strong correlation between mammographic breast density and breast cancer risk. mammographic breast density may therefore be used as a surrogate marker for monitoring the response to treatment in studies of breast cancer prevention or intervention methods.

Volumetric bone mineral density — a potential role in paediatrics
Acta Paediatrica, 1995The use of areal bone mineral density (aBMD) in paediatric populations has aroused some concern, as it fails to take the age‐related increase in bone thickness into account. We have developed a measure of true bone density, volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD), which is independent of age and height.

Volumetric breast density characteristics as determined from digital mammograms
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2012In this paper we present the results of an automated and entirely reproducible algorithm that estimates the breast volume, dense tissue volume and the volumetric breast density from digital mammograms. The algorithm was applied to 55, 087 digital images (CC view only) from 15 351 individual women, acquired between 2008 and 2011 at the Sunnybrook Health

Temporal Lobe Volumetric Cell Densities in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
Epilepsia, 1984Summary: Volumetric cell densities in 13 different sub‐fields of the temporal lobe were calculated to test various hypotheses about mesial and lateral temporal lobe sclerosis in patients with complex partial epilepsy. In patients benefitting (primary group) from anterior temporal lobectomy (ATL), sclerosis was greater (fewer cells) in anterior than in

Quantitative volumetric breast density estimation using phase contrast mammography
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2015Phase contrast mammography using a grating interferometer is an emerging technology for breast imaging. It provides complementary information to the conventional absorption-based methods. Additional diagnostic values could be further obtained by retrieving quantitative information from the three physical signals (absorption, differential phase and ...

Volumetric Bone Mineral Density in Patients with Childhood Craniopharyngioma
Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes, 2003As the overall survival rate is high in patients with craniopharyngioma, the prognosis in survivors depends mainly on late effects. Late effects such as hypogonadism, growth hormone deficiency, glucocorticoid overreplacement and obesity have a strong impact on volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD).

Using Volumetric Breast Density to Quantify the Potential Masking Risk of Mammographic Density
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2017The purposes of this study were to compare BI-RADS density categories with quantitative volumetric breast density (VBD) for the reporting of mammographic sensitivity and to identify which patient factors are most predictive of a diagnosis of interval cancer of the breast versus screen-detected cancer. This retrospective study included screen-detected ...
