Three cases of volvulus of the caecum are presented and their symptoms and treatment are discussed. It is suggested that this condition may be commoner than is thought and would be diagnosed more frequently if considered in the differential diagnosis.

Gallbladder volvulus is a rare condition caused by torsion of the cholecystic pedicle and is favored by a long or nonexistent cholecystic mesentery. Gallbladder torsion presents clinically as gangrenous cholecystitis. Emergency cholecystectomy is the standard treatment.
