Observations of Tilted Electron Vortex Flux Rope in the Magnetic Reconnection Tailward Outflow Region

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
With high‐resolution data from Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission, an ion‐scale flux rope (FR) with a heavily tilted axis is observed in the tailward outflow of a magnetic reconnection in the terrestrial magnetotail.

Wind-Induced Response and Its Controlling of Long-Span Cross-Rope Suspension Transmission Line

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In mountainous areas, the installation of steel towers was the major obstacle to the construction of transmission lines. In long-span cross-rope suspension (CRS) structures, the conductors are supported by hundreds-meters-long suspension cables crossing ...

On the upper part load vortex rope in Francis turbine: Experimental investigation [PDF]

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2010
The swirling flow developing in Francis turbine draft tube under part load operation leads to pressure fluctuations usually in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 times the runner rotational frequency resulting from the so-called vortex breakdown. For low cavitation number, the flow features a cavitation vortex rope animated with precession motion.

Effect of Speed Linear Decrease on Internal Flow Characteristics and Pressure Pulsations of Variable-Speed Pump Turbine in Turbine Mode

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Pumped storage units often deviate from the optimal operating conditions in the process of regulating new energy fluctuations. To effectively improve the performance of the units, the variable speed of the units is one of the more feasible means at ...

Vortex of beam shift induced by mono-chiral interface states

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
If an electron beam hits onto the interface of a Weyl-node-mismatch junction, a shift of the beam center on the interface happens when the beam is reflected or transmitted, where the junction consists of two materials of the same Weyl semimetal and one ...

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Modal analysis of vortex rope using dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids
The decelerating swirling flow in the draft tube of hydraulic turbines at part load conditions often results in a self-induced instability known as vortex rope. This phenomenon is associated with detrimental pressure pulsations in the hydropower system that need to be mitigated.

TRIM47 Regulates Energy Metabolism via Glycolytic Reprogramming to Drive Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression and Represents an Efficient Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies TRIM47 as a key driver of liver cancer progression by promoting glycolysis through ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of the gluconeogenic enzyme FBP1. TRIM47 enhances glucose uptake, lactate and ATP production, and tumor growth and metastasis.
