Global vorticity shedding for a vanishing wing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
If a moving body were made to vanish within a fluid, its boundary-layer vorticity would be released into the fluid at all locations simultaneously, a phenomenon we call global vorticity shedding.

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

Generation of New Frequencies by Nonlinear Interaction between Different Vortex Shedding Frequencies in Span Wise Direction of a Stepped Circular Cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
It is known that the low-frequency fluctuation about 1/20 of vortex shedding frequency exists in the irreqularity of the vortex shedding from a two-dimensional circular cylinder.

Flow over a cylinder subjected to combined translational and rotational oscillations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The experimental research reported here employs particle image velocimetry to extend the study of Nazarinia et al. (2009a), recording detailed vorticity fields in the near-wake of a circular cylinder undergoing combined translational and rotational ...

Molecular Mobility of N‐Acetylgalactosamine‐Modified Cyclodextrins on a Polyrotaxane for Highly Efficient Liver Targeting of Antibody Chimeras and Genome‐Editing Ribonucleoproteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Monovalent N‐acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc)‐modified polyrotaxane enables efficient liver targeting by utilizing ligand mobility. The sliding and rotating cyclic components i.e., cyclodextrin in the polyrotaxane dynamically cluster GalNAc moieties, thereby mimicking trivalent interactions with asialoglycoprotein receptors.

Transition in vortex wakes of flow around an elliptic cylinder

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics
Transition in the wake flow around an elliptic cylinder was numerically investigated at Reynolds numbers (Re) ranging from 3 to 200. The cylinder axis ratio (AR) varies from 0.125 to 8, while its angle of attack (AoA) was examined at 30°, 60°, and 90 ...

Tumor‐Specific Delivery of CD28 siRNA via Lyso‐PC C‐16 Modified Lipid Nanoparticles Overcomes Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance by Remodeling Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops 16:0 LPC‐modified lipid nanoparticles (LPC‐LNPs) with cancer cell specificity by exploiting altered tumor lipid metabolism. LPC‐LNPs encapsulating Cd28 small interfering RNA (LPC‐LNP‐Cd28) knock down cancer cell CD28 without affecting T cells, inflame the tumor microenvironment, and overcome anti‐PD‐1 resistance.

Monomode Fibre Optic Vortex Shedding Flowmeter

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 1984
The use of a monomode optical fibre sensing element in the measurement of flow velocities by an interferometric technique is described, in which the operating principle is the flow induced oscillation of the fibre caused by vortex shedding. The system has been demonstrated to show a linear response with water flows in the Reynolds number range 100–3500.
