Prediction method of hydrofoil vortex shedding frequency at high Reynolds numbers

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2019
[Objectives] Flow around hydrofoils under high Reynolds number is always a hot topic in hydrodynamic field due to its complicated principle and difficult calculation. The Discrete Vortex Model (DVM) based on vorticity and stream function formulation is a

Numerical Investigation of the Cavitation Effects on the Vortex Shedding from a Hydrofoil with Blunt Trailing Edge

open access: yesFluids, 2020
Vortex cavitation can appear in the wake flow of hydrofoils, inducing unwanted consequences such as vibrations or unstable behaviors in hydraulic machinery and systems.

Characterization of Flow Separation around Inline Cylinders within Oscillatory Flow

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
This paper has examined the effects of Reynolds number (Re), Keulegan–Carpenter number (KC), and gap ratio on flow separation around a cylinder array by PIV method in experiment.

Vortex shedding in a model of superflow [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1999
The present article represents part of the PhD. dissertation by C. Josserand. We discuss the nucleation of quantized vortices in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) for a flow around a disk in two spatial dimensions. It appears that the vortices are nucleated when the flow becomes locally (at the edge of the disk) supersonic.

Lock-in of the vortex-induced vibrations of a long tensioned beam in shear flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The occurrence of lock-in, defined as the local synchronization between the vortex shedding frequency and the cross-flow structural vibration frequency, is investigated in the case of a tensioned beam of length to diameter ratio 200, free to move in both

Control Of Vortex Shedding From A Square Cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Small circular, square, and thin-strip cross-sectional elements are used to suppress vortex shedding from a square cylinder at Reynolds numbers in the range of 1.12 x 10(4)-1.02 x 10(5). The axes of the element and cylinder are parallel.

Numerical Investigation on Unsteady Separation Flow Control in an Axial Compressor Using Detached-Eddy Simulation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Unsteady excitation has proved its effectiveness in separation flow control and has been extensively studied. It is observed that disordered shedding vortices in compressors can be controlled by unsteady excitation, especially when the excitation ...

Distributed lock-in drives broadband vortex-induced vibrations of a long flexible cylinder in shear flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A slender flexible body immersed in sheared cross-flow may exhibit vortex-induced vibrations (VIVs) involving a wide range of excited frequencies and structural wavenumbers.

Kármán vortex street in a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Vortex shedding from a moving obstacle potential in a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate is investigated numerically. For a miscible two-component condensate composed of ^23 Na and ^87 Rb atoms, in the wake of obstacle, the Kármán vortex street is ...
