Isolation Defines Identity: Functional Consequences of Extracellular Vesicle Purification Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Four extracellular vesicle purification strategies are compared using ovarian‐cancer ascites and ES‐2 cell supernatants. A novel workflow links purification to function by combining particle‐normalized proteomics with matched cell‐free and cell‐based assays.

Predicting the vortex shedding frequency at the interface of the lateral cavities

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The vortex shedding frequency in the mixing layer between a cavity and a main stream has been examined experimentally in absence of large oscillation of the free surface inside the cavity, called seiching.

Some Modelling Issues on Trailing Edge Vortex Shedding [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 1: Aircraft Engine; Marine; Turbomachinery; Microturbines and Small Turbomachinery, 1999
A numerical study has been carried out to investigate modelling issues on trailing edge vortex shedding. The vortex shedding from a circular cylinder and a VKI turbine blade is calculated using a 2-D unsteady multi-block Navier-Stokes solver. The unsteady stresses are calculated from the unsteady solutions.

Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

Dynamic Optimization for Vortex Shedding Suppression

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Flows around structures exhibiting vortex shedding induce vibrations that can potentially damage the structure. A way to avoid it is to suppress vortex shedding by controlling the wake.

Improved delayed detached-eddy simulation and proper orthogonal decomposition analysis of turbulent wake behind a wall-mounted square cylinder

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
The turbulent flow past a wall-mounted square cylinder with an aspect ratio of 4 was investigated with the aid of Spalart–Allmaras improved delayed detached-eddy simulation and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) analysis. The Reynolds number was equal

Vortex motion around a circular cylinder

open access: yes, 2011
The motion of a pair of counter-rotating point vortices placed in a uniform flow around a circular cylinder forms a rich nonlinear system that is often used to model vortex shedding.

Nb2C‐Reinforced Hydrogel Microneedle as Dual ROS‐Scavenging Platform to Promote Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An advanced microneedle patch integrating niobium carbide nanosheets and curcumin is engineered for diabetic wound healing. The system enables dual ROS scavenging and NIR‐enhanced antimicrobial activity, effectively rebalancing the oxidative microenvironment, promoting macrophage repolarization and angiogenesis, and accelerating full‐thickness wound ...

Effect of Inclination on Vortex Shedding Frequency Behind a Bent Cylinder: An Experimental Study

open access: yesFluids, 2019
This paper presents experimental results on the vortex shedding frequency measured behind a bent cylinder. Experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel covering Reynolds numbers between 50 and 500, a range of interest for flow sensing, flow control, and ...

Geometry of unsteady fluid transport during fluid–structure interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe the application of tools from dynamical systems to define and quantify the unsteady fluid transport that occurs during fluid–structure interactions and in unsteady recirculating flows.
