Influence of attack angle on vortex-induced vibration and energy harvesting of two cylinders in side-by-side arrangement

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The vortex-induced vibration and energy harvesting of two cylinders in side-by-side arrangement with different attack angles are numerically investigated using two-dimensional unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes simulations.

Influence of Urban Road Green Belts on Pedestrian-Level Wind in Height-Asymmetric Street Canyons

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
This study was conducted to examine the effect on airflow of the shape of an urban road green belt in an asymmetrical street canyon. In this paper, the airflow field at pedestrian height in an asymmetrical street with different building height ratios ...

The effect of core size on the speed of compressible hollow vortex streets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effect of weak compressibility on the speed of steadily translating staggered vortex streets of hollow vortices in isentropic subsonic flow is studied.

Quantifying the Impacts of the Angle of Attack on the Morphology of Atmospheric von Kármán Vortex Streets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
A mesoscale model is used to systematically investigate how the incoming flow incidence angle affects the development of atmospheric von Kármán vortex streets for non-axisymmetric islands.

Theory and computations for breakup of unsteady subsonic or supersonic separating flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
This study of flow just beyond a breakaway-separation point presents a description of planar nonlinear unsteady effects over a fairly wide parameter range, for a subsonic or supersonic boundary layer at large Reynolds numbers.

Enhancing Kármán Vortex Street Detection via Auxiliary Networks Incorporating Key Atmospheric Parameters

open access: yesAtmosphere
Kármán vortex streets are quintessential phenomena in fluid dynamics, manifested by the periodic shedding of vortices as airflow interacts with obstacles.

Axial Flow in a Vortex in Karman Vortex Street.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, 1996
The vortex filaments in a Karman vortex street are usually not parallel to the axis of a circular cylinder perpendicular to a uniform flow in a low speed wind tunnel, but incline to the axis of the cylinder. The axial flow to the upstream direction in a vortex was observed by means of flow visualization in each vortex of the Karman vortex street.

Dynamics of vortex shedding from slender cones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDThe dynamics of vortex shedding from bluff bodies has been investigated experimentally for many decades, with the simple geometric case for the investigation being a uniform circular cylinder aligned with its axis normal to the flow. Even though
