A study of vorticity formation in high energy nuclear collisions [PDF]
We present a quantitative study of vorticity formation in peripheral ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at $${\sqrt{s}_\mathrm{NN}}= 200$$sNN=200 GeV by using the ECHO-QGP numerical code, implementing relativistic dissipative hydrodynamics in the ...

The structure of diffusing planar and axisymmetric vortices of the hyperviscous Navier-Stokes equations is studied for different orders of the dissipative operator. It is found that, except for the classical Newtonian case, the vorticity decays at large distances by means of oscillatory tails, containing circulation of alternating signs.

Relativistic Electron Vortices [PDF]
The desire to push recent experiments on electron vortices to higher energies leads to some theoretical difficulties. In particular the simple and very successful picture of phase vortices of vortex charge ℓ associated with ℓℏ units of orbital angular momentum per electron is challenged by the facts that (i) the spin and orbital angular momentum are ...

We investigate the non-linear equilibration of a two-layer quasi-geostrophic flow in a channel forced by an imposed unstable zonal mean flow, paying particular attention to the role of bottom friction.

The flow field of a free square jet generated from an unsteady wind tunnel with a step-like axial velocity variation was measured using an ultrasonic anemometer. Three-dimensional velocity vector fields were synthesized by computational modeling from the

Experiment and numerical simulation of an aluminum circular-blade butterfly wind turbine
To reduce costs involved in manufacturing small wind turbines, an aluminum circular-blade butterfly wind turbine (ACBBWT) has been developed, in which four blades of the turbine were extruded and bent to shape then attached directly to a rotating flange.

Upper Ocean Thermodynamic Response to Coupling Currents to Wind Stress over the Gulf Stream
We use high-resolution coupled atmosphere–ocean model simulations over the Gulf Stream extension region during a winter season to examine the upper ocean thermodynamic response to including current feedback to atmospheric wind stress. We demonstrate that
