Abstract This work considers the design‐for‐control of water distribution networks (WDN) for the joint optimization of performance and cost‐related objectives. In particular, we focus on the problem of optimizing the placement (design) and settings (control) of pressure reducing valves to minimize leakage at minimum cost.

ABSTRACT High‐quality reference genome assemblies have become essential for deepening our understanding of biodiversity, yet obtaining them for many species remains surprisingly challenging. Drawing on experiences from the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) community, we focus on permit and sample‐handling procedures leading up to nucleic acid ...

Abstract Solvent‐assisted recovery methods have gained attention as an alternative to conventional thermal methods which have significant environmental drawbacks and high greenhouse gas emissions. Solvent‐assisted recovery methods can lead to various phase equilibria, such as vapour–liquid equilibrium (VLE) and liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE), under ...

Palagonitization of Volcanic Rocks in Polar Climates: The Case of Deception Island (Antarctica)
Abstract A detailed study of palagonitization in rocks from Deception Island—one of Antarctica's most active volcanoes—has been performed to advance our understanding of this alteration process. A detailed petrographic (optical and SEM), mineralogical (XRD), and mineral and glass spot geochemistry (EDS and EMP) characterization has been conducted on ...

XPS investigations of VPO catalysts under reaction conditions [PDF]
The surface of vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalysts was investigated by (in situ) X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) under reaction conditions. Two differently prepared VPO samples with similar catalytic activities showed different spectral behaviour while the catalytic conditions were changed.

A micro‐CT approach to the anatomy of Pectinariidae Quatrefages, 1866 (Annelida)
Abstract The Micro‐computed X‐ray tomography (micro‐CT) technique is used to examine the external and internal anatomy of four species of Pectinariidae (Annelida: Terebellida): Amphictene auricoma, Cistenides granulata, Cistenides hyperborea and Lagis sp., from material collected off Iceland and NW Spain.
