Iterated multiplication in $$ VTC ^0$$ [PDF]

open access: yesArchive for Mathematical Logic, 2022
We show that $VTC^0$, the basic theory of bounded arithmetic corresponding to the complexity class $\mathrm{TC}^0$, proves the $IMUL$ axiom expressing the totality of iterated multiplication satisfying its recursive definition, by formalizing a suitable version of the $\mathrm{TC}^0$ iterated multiplication algorithm by Hesse, Allender, and Barrington.

Tidal volume challenge–induced hemodynamic changes can predict fluid responsiveness during one-lung ventilation: an observational study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2023
BackgroundTo evaluate the ability of tidal volume challenge (VTC)-induced hemodynamic changes to predict fluid responsiveness in patients during one-lung ventilation (OLV).Methods80 patients scheduled for elective thoracoscopic surgery with OLV were ...

A Soluble Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor-β Originates via Pre-mRNA Splicing in the Healthy Brain and Is Upregulated during Hypoxia and Aging

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2023
The platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) pathway provides critical regulation of cerebrovascular pericytes, orchestrating their investment and retention within the brain microcirculation. Dysregulated PDGF Receptor-beta (PDGFRβ) signaling can lead

The Non-Linear Path from Gene Dysfunction to Genetic Disease: Lessons from the MICPCH Mouse Model

open access: yesCells, 2022
Most human disease manifests as a result of tissue pathology, due to an underlying disease process (pathogenesis), rather than the acute loss of specific molecular function(s).

White matter fascicles and cortical microstructure predict reading-related responses in human ventral temporal cortex

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2021
Reading-related responses in the lateral ventral temporal cortex (VTC) show a consistent spatial layout across individuals, which is puzzling, since reading skills are acquired during childhood.
