Global Ionospheric Slab Thickness Prediction Model Using XGBoost and Ensemble Learning

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The ionospheric equivalent slab thickness is a key parameter for understanding the plasma distribution in the ionosphere, with direct relevance to satellite navigation, communication, and skywave over‐the‐horizon radar. However, traditional prediction methods often suffer from regional biases, limiting their global applicability.

Statistical framework for estimating GNSS bias

open access: yes, 2015
We present a statistical framework for estimating global navigation satellite system (GNSS) non-ionospheric differential time delay bias. The biases are estimated by examining differences of measured line integrated electron densities (TEC) that are ...

Escherichia coli: Old problem, new pathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Even though the presence of Escherichia coli in the organism of humans and animals as a commensal has been known for a long time, attention has been paid to it only recently as the cause of diseases in humans and animals.

Quasi-biennial oscillation in GPS VTEC measurements

open access: yesAdvances in Space Research, 2014
Abstract The quasi-biennial oscillation, QBO, a well known periodicity in the equatorial stratospheric zonal winds, is also found in ionospheric parameters and in solar and geomagnetic activity indices. Many authors speculated about the link between the QBO in solar and geomagnetic activity and the QBO in atmospheric parameters.

Evidence and Causes of an Unusual Super Plasma Bubble Occurrence During Weak Geomagnetic Conditions Over Europe

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Using data from a cluster of ground‐based global navigation satellite system, we observed spatially extended enhanced ROTI over the European longitudes during a weak geomagnetic storm (Dst ≈ ${\approx} $ −50 nT) on 4 November 2023. The enhanced ROTI is extended over an extensive geographical latitudinal range of 46°N.

Occurrence and characterization of shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli in raw meat, raw milk, and street vended juices in Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The major objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Shiga toxin (Stx)–producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in different types of food samples and to compare their genetic relatedness with STEC strains previously isolated from animal ...

Forecasting Equatorial Plasma Bubbles From Precursor TEC Signatures Observed by C/NOFS

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the potential of localized total electron content (TEC) perturbation measurements, possibly associated with bottomside upwelling of the F‐layer, as precursors for forecasting ionospheric plasma irregularities, particularly the equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs).

Infection frequently triggers thrombotic microangiopathy in patients with preexisting risk factors : a single-institution experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Thrombotic microangiopathies are rare conditions characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, microthrombi, and multiorgan insult. The disorders, which include hemolytic uremic syndrome and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, are often acute and ...

Ionospheric VTEC anomalies before Ms7.1 Yushu earthquake

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2011
Abstract:Vertical total electron content is examined to check whether the Ms7.1 Yushu earthquake on April 14, 2010, may have caused any anomalous ionospheric changes. The result shows two TEC increases over the epicenter vicinity on April 1 and 5; these anomalies drifted from east to west, the latter across the whole China.
