Process for bonding elastomers to metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A process for bonding elastomeric material to a metal part includes coating a heat curable adhesive on the surfaces of the metal part to be bonded. The metal part is placed in a mold, a bottom plate and an upper transfer pot of a transfer molding machine

Modified and unmodified zinc oxide as coagent in elastomer compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this work was to study the activity of unmodifi ed and modifi ed ZnO in the peroxide crosslinking of hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene elastomer (HNBR) and ethylene-propylene copolymer (EPM).

Influence of Acrylonitrile Content on Processing, Morphology, Thermal Behavior, and Mechanical Properties of PA/NBR Thermoplastic Vulcanizates

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Influence of acrylonitrile (ACN) content on the processing behavior and morphological development of PA/NBR thermoplastic vulcanizates. Torque‐time profiles, SEM, and SEM/AFM images show that an intermediate ACN level (38%) promotes improved phase dispersion and morphological uniformity, especially with increased processing time, resulting in the most ...

From Collapse to Freezing in Random Heteropolymers

open access: yes, 1997
We consider a two-letter self-avoiding (square) lattice heteropolymer model of N_H (out ofN) attracting sites. At zero temperature, permanent links are formed leading to collapse structures for any fraction rho_H=N_H/N. The average chain size scales as R

Production of Elastomeric Composites With Different Methods of Incorporating of Graphene Nanoplatelets Into SBR Latex

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study explores scalable methods of incorporating graphene nanoplatelets into SBR latex with or without a surfactant, using either powder or a masterbatch. Results show that combining a masterbatch with the surfactant DTAB improves vulcanization speed, mechanical strength, hardness, thermal conductivity, and resistance to aging.

Hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study of thermal effect on chemical state of sulfur in rubber compound

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2019
Hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HAXPES) has been utilized to study chemical state and kinetics of sulfur species in a rubber compound by examining thermally induced changes of S 1s core-level spectra.

Membrane Polymers for the Pervaporative Separation of Polar Organics: Methanol and Acetonitrile

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
We tested seven polymers as membranes for the pervaporative separation of methanol‐acetonitrile mixtures. Chloroprene rubber, silicone rubber, and Matrimid showed effective separation by favoring acetonitrile transport, enabling azeotrope breaking. Plasticization was assessed using Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy.

Polymer‐Crosslinking System‐Filler Interactions in Polychloroprene Adhesives: Experimental and Molecular Modeling Insights

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The use of polychloroprene is common in elastomeric adhesives. This study highlights the possible substitution of zinc oxide curing systems to a less hazardous metal complex, also evaluating the changes that higher surface area fillers can bring to the adhesive.
