Ageism in Rheumatology: the Healthcare Professional's Perspective

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Ageism (age‐based stereotypes, prejudice, or discrimination) is prevalent and linked to prolonged disability and reduced lifespan in older adults. Little is known about ageism within rheumatology. This study explores the healthcare professional's (HCP) perception of the care of older adults and how ageist attitudes or perspectives may impact ...

Agile development for vulnerable populations: lessons learned and recommendations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we draw attention to the challenges of managing software projects for vulnerable populations, i.e., people potentially exposed to harm or not capable of protecting their own interests. The focus on human aspects, and particularly, the inclusion of human-centered approaches, has been a popular topic in the software engineering community ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.
