Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Is there Supernova Evidence for Dark Energy Metamorphosis ?

open access: yes, 2003
We reconstruct the equation of state $w(z)$ of dark energy (DE) using a recently released data set containing 172 type Ia supernovae without assuming the prior $w(z) \geq -1$ (in contrast to previous studies). We find that dark energy evolves rapidly and

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Preparing Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and $W$ states on a long-range Ising spin model by global controls

open access: yes, 2017
Entanglement, a unique quantum resource with no classical counterpart, remains at the heart of quantum information. The Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and $W$ states are two inequivalent classes of multipartite entangled states which can not be ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Some entanglement features of three-atoms Tavis-Cummings model: Cooperative case

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we consider a system of identical three two-level atoms interacting at resonance with a single-mode of the quantized field in a lossless cavity.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Entangled measurement for W states

open access: yesScience Advances
Entangled measurements are an indispensable tool for quantum information processing, such as Bell-state measurements in quantum teleportation and entanglement swapping. However, to date, the realization of entangled measurements has mainly focused on bipartite systems or Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states.

Conversion of entangled states with nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to microtoroidal resonators

open access: yes, 2017
We propose efficient schemes for converting three-photon, four-photon and five-photon GHZ state to a $W$ state or Dicke state, respectively with the nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers via single-photon input-output process and cross-Kerr nonlinearities.
