A review on process planning strategies and challenges of WAAM
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021Abstract Wire arc and additive manufacturing (WAAM) is coming out to be a new promising economical technique for metal additive manufacturing. Custom-built large volume metallic structures can be produced in relatively less time using WAAM techniques.

This chapter summarizes a PhD thesis introducing a methodology for optimizing robotic MIG (metal inert gas) to perform WAAM (wire and arc additive manufacturing) without using machines equipped with CMT (cold metal transfer) technology. It tries to find the optimal MIG parameters to make WAAM using a welding robot feasible production technique capable ...

Investigation of Corrosion in WAAM Manufactured Materials
CONFERENCE 2022, 2022Abstract To develop the commercial applicability of Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), there is a crucial need to understand the corrosion behaviour of the fabricated materials for industry acceptance. It is well-known that WAAM process has a complex thermal process, resulting in unique microstructures and material surfaces.

ON PROCESS STABILITY IN WAAM-CMT OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS
2023Wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has become a cost-efficient metal additive manufacturing process. However, depositing aluminum with WAAM is challenging due to its sensitivity to heat input (linear energy density), which can cause undesirable surface topology waviness if not controlled.

Additive manufacturing using WAAM with AA5183 wire
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2018Abstract The present study addresses wire arc additive manufacturing of AA5183 aluminium alloy using conventional gas metal arc welding deposition on 20 mm thick AA6082-T6 plate as support material. Microscopic examination demonstrates that the process is feasible, but can be further optimized to reduce gas porosity and hot cracking.

Influence of Heat Input on Formation of Layers in WAAM
Proceedings of the Bulgarian Academy of SciencesExperiments are carried out on WAAM using solid wire grade G3Si1 as additive material. The layers are deposited with single beads. Metallographic macro sections are made from the obtained samples and are used to determine the geometric dimensions of the layers, i.e. width, height and lateral waviness. The correlation coefficients between the heat input
