Prestressed Waffle Slab Bridges — Elastic Behavior
Journal of the Structural Division, 1980A series solution has been development to analyze the elastic behavior of post-tensioned waffle slab bridges subjected to laterally applied uniform and concentrated (patch) loads. The solution applies to bridges of rectangular and skew planforms. Realistic estimates of the orthotropic rigidities of waffle construction are used in the solution.

Waffle Slab Concrete Bridges: Ultimate Behavior
Journal of the Structural Division, 1982The structural response of reinforced and prestressed concrete waffle slab bridges has been examined under working loads as well as under ultimate collapse loads. Bridges of rectangular and skew planforms are studied. The elastic analysis is based on a Fourier series solution, while the ultimate load analysis is formulated using yield-line theory.

Flat Slab and Waffle Slab Systems
1994The effects of column grid size, number of storeys, use of mild/high yield steel reinforcement, location of structural element, grade of concrete and provision of column heads in structural systems on the quantities of various constituents of reinforced concrete construction using flat slabs and waffle slabs have been studied and presented in the form ...

Assessment and Restoration of Post-Tensioned Waffle Slabs
Structures Congress 2010, 2010The use of un-bonded post-tensioned (PT) reinforcement in waffle slabs has been popular for many decades in buildings and parking structures. The use of PT reinforcement in waffle slabs greatly reduces the amount of cracking and possible leakage in the structure and also allows economical long-span construction.

Orientation of Ribs in Waffle‐Slab Skew Bridges
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1983An experimental study is presented on the structural response of reinforced concrete skew bridges of: (a) orthogonally, (b) nonorthogonally shaped waffle slab constructions, and (c) solid slab construction. The response is examined under elastic and ultimate load conditions.

Two-Way (Waffle) Flat Slab Design
1998A “waffle” flat slab is a two-way joist system. Under the general provisions of the 1995 Code, Chapter 13, the two-way joist portion may be combined with a solid column head or with solid wide beam sections on the column centerlines for uniform depth construction.

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of a Waffle Slab Parking Floor
Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction, 2014AbstractRational and sophisticated structural solutions are essential requirements for structural designers, as a consequence of architectural design evolution and new building management concepts. Thus, waffle slabs turn out to be an interesting alternative, despite their laborious numerical modeling.

Rigidity and Strength of Orthotropic Reinforced Concrete Waffle Slabs
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2000Waffle slabs, also known as two-way ribbed flat slabs, are being used increasingly in modern construction to reduce dead weight and ensure efficient lateral distribution of loads. This paper presents the results of an experimental study of reinforced concrete waffle slabs with a square layout of ribs.
