Deep Reinforcement Learning Applied to Wake Steering

Advanced Theory and Simulations
AbstractWake steering is a wind farm control strategy where the yaw angle of turbines is intentionally misaligned with the incoming wind direction to deflect the wake in such a way as to increase the power production from the downstream turbines in exchange for producing less power in the upstream turbines.

Analysis on the relationship between wind veer and the wind turbine wake in the context of wake steering

2023
Wake steering is the intentional yaw misalignment of wind turbines to deflect the wakes away from turbines downstream and improve overall farm power production. It is most applicable in the stable atmospheric boundary layer (SBL), which is characterised by low turbulence intensity and high wake losses.
