System identification and particle image velocimetry reveal how a modular robotic fish changes thrust physics across gaits. A traveling‐wave, fish‐like motion draws thrust from resistive drag, while a resonant standing‐wave motion is driven by reactive pressure.

Endogenous melatonin partial metabolic clearance as a potential endogenous marker of CYP1A2 activity
Aims Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) exhibits substantial interindividual variability, necessitating appropriate phenotyping strategies for personalized pharmacotherapy. This study evaluated endogenous melatonin partial metabolic clearance (CLm(MEL)), calculated from urinary 6‐hydroxymelatonin (6‐O‐MEL) excretion and plasma melatonin (MEL) exposure, as a ...

Growth and instability of a laminar plume in a strongly stratified environment [PDF]
Experimental studies of laminar plumes descending under gravity into stably stratified environments have shown the existence of a critical injection velocity beyond which the plume exhibits a bifurcation to a coiling instability in three dimensions or a ...

Spectral broadening in turbulent wakes and jets [PDF]
A continuous acoustic signal propagating through turbulence is scattered by variations in the flow velocity. The scattered signal is Doppler shifted in a random manner due to the turbulent motion of the scatterers, thus giving rise to spectral broadening.

Drug‐coated balloons: From conventional designs to next‐generation innovations in vascular therapy
This review traces the evolution of drug‐coated balloons (DCBs) from conventional designs to next‐generation platforms. We highlight innovations in balloon engineering, coating technologies, and therapeutic agents that enhance localized drug delivery while addressing challenges in efficiency, safety, and biocompatibility for vascular and emerging non ...

Simulations suggest offshore wind farms modify low-level jets [PDF]
Offshore wind farms are scheduled to be constructed along the East Coast of the US in the coming years. Low-level jets (LLJs) – layers of relatively fast winds at low altitudes – also occur frequently in this region.

Utterance evolution: the road to generative, combinatorial communicators
ABSTRACT Language has long been considered uniquely complex in the animal kingdom; however, animal research over the last decade has begun to challenge some long‐standing premises about exactly which language capacities are uniquely human. The task of resolving why and how complex communication systems evolve, particularly human language, has ...
