Stability of Laminar Wakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
This investigation deals with the effects of compressibility on the hydrodynamic stability of wake flows. It is found that the effect of temperature is two-fold: (1), as the wake core temperature increases, the range of Mach numbers over which neutral ...

The Non‐Professional Virtues of the Hospice Volunteer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Philosophy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Volunteers have long played a significant role in hospice care. Much of the care volunteers provide consists of weekly hour‐long in‐home visits. Home‐visiting hospice volunteers are not professionals, nor are they strangers or intimates. Hospice volunteers will not typically face moral dilemmas, nor be called upon to make dramatic decisions ...

Vortical structure in the wake of a transverse jet [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 1994
Structural features resulting from the interaction of a turbulent jet issuing transversely into a uniform stream are described with the help of flow visualization and hot-wire anemometry. Jet-to-crossflow velocity ratios from 2 to 10 were investigated at crossflow Reynolds numbers from 3800 to 11400.

Using Virtual Reality Social Environments to Promote Outcomes' Generalization of AVATAR Therapy for Distressing Voices: A Case Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, Volume 81, Issue 6, Page 516-525, June 2025.
ABSTRACT AVATAR therapy (AT) works by facilitating a ‘face‐to‐face’ dialog between the person and a digital representation (avatar) of their persecutory voice. Although there is cumulative evidence of this way of working with voices, enhancing the therapeutic focus on improved confidence and a sense of control of the voices in social situations ...

When Does Top Management Team Diversity Matter in Large Organizations?

open access: yesJournal of Organizational Behavior, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Top management teams (TMTs) drive strategic leadership, but there is little clarity on when the composition of these upper echelons most impacts organization performance. Drawing from the categorization‐elaboration model, we study an 18‐year sample of approximately 4500 organizations and over 32 000 executives and find a positive relationship ...

The Effects of Wall Compliance on the Stability of Jets and Wakes

open access: yes, 2022
In this thesis, we study the effectiveness of compliant boundaries on the absolute instability (AI) ofconfined 2D inviscid jets and wakes, and compare the results with the effects of rigid impermeableboundaries. We consider symmetric and asymmetric configurations.

Stability of Compressible Mixing Layers Modified by Wakes and Jets

open access: yes, 2015
Binary free shear layers are frequently used as a model to study the stability of flows relevant in propulsion devices. The stability behaviour of binary, compressible mixing layer have been investigated and reported in the literature by many research ...

Experimental study of yawed inflow around wind turbine rotor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this article, we present an experimental study in a wind tunnel of a three-bladed, Rutland 503 model, horizontal axis yawed wind turbine. Power measurement and an exploration downstream wake of the turbine using particle image velocimetry measurements

RECiPROsody: A Study Protocol for Investigating Movement and Prosodic Synchrony as Embodied Markers of Relational Attunement in Gestalt Psychotherapy

open access: yesThe Journal of Humanistic Counseling, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonverbal synchrony supports therapeutic alliance, yet its role in Gestalt psychotherapy remains underexplored. This manuscript presents the RECiPROsody study protocol, designed to investigate how multimodal interpersonal synchrony between therapists and clients relates to embodied attunement and therapeutic outcomes.
