Statistical Analysis of a Generalized Linear Model for Bilateral Correlated Data Under Donner’s Model

open access: yesAxioms
Paired data often arise in medical studies, with a correlation between responses of paired organs or parts. Under an intra-correlated model, this paper proposes a generalized linear model to investigate probable confounding factors of the individual ...

On Wald Type Test for Poisson Processes

open access: yes, 2019
We consider two statistical problems for inhomogeneous Poisson processes. The first one concerns the parameter estimation and the second one is about the Wald test. We develop the method of moments and One-step MLE method in parameter estimation problem and describe the asymptotic behavior of the test based on the corresponding estimators. We show that

Increasing the Power of Association Studies with Affected Families, Unrelated Cases and Controls

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2013
When studying the genetics of inherited diseases, researchers often collect data on affected families, unrelated cases, and healthy controls. However, the joint analysis of such heterogeneous data is difficult, and the simpler analysis of homogeneous ...

Computational Approach Test using Likelihood Based Tests for the Equality of Inverse Gaussian Means

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal
In this study, we propose three different test procedures by plugging the Wald (W), score (S) and likelihood ratio (LR) statistics into the computational approach test (CAT) to test the equality of inverse Gaussian means when the scale parameters are ...

Homogeneity Test of Ratios of Two Proportions in Stratified Bilateral and Unilateral Data

open access: yesMathematics
In paired-organ studies such as ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and rheumatology, etc., various approaches take highly correlated bilateral data into account for homogeneity tests but are less likely to focus on combined bilateral and unilateral data ...

Clinical expression of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy in carriers of 1–3 D4Z4 reduced alleles: experience of the FSHD Italian National Registry

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2016
Objectives Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy type 1 (FSHD1) has been genetically linked to reduced numbers (≤8) of D4Z4 repeats at 4q35. Particularly severe FSHD cases, characterised by an infantile onset and presence of additional extra-muscular ...

Neural Network Approach in Forecasting Realized Variance Using High-Frequency Data

open access: yesBusiness Systems Research, 2018
Background: Since high-frequency data have become available, an unbiased volatility estimator, i.e. realized variance (RV) can be computed. Commonly used models for RV forecasting suffer from strong persistence with a high sensitivity to the returns ...

Is regularization necessary? A Wald-type test under non-regular conditions

open access: yes, 2014
We study hypotheses testing in the presence of a possibly singular covariance matrix. We propose an alternative way to handle possible non-regularity in a covariance matrix of a Wald test, using the identity matrix as the weighting matrix when calculating the quadratic form.
