Bioinspired Aquatic Microrobot Capable of Walking on Water Surface Like a Water Strider

open access: yes, 2016
Walking on the water surface is a dream of humans, but it is exactly the way of life for some aquatic insects. In this study, a bionic aquatic microrobot capable of walking on the water surface like a water strider was reported.

Exploring the influence of path environment factors on walking behavior in urban parks with configuration attribute control.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The existing evidence regarding the influence of visual and physical environmental features of park pathways on walking behavior is limited and contentious, partly due to the lack of control over pathway configurational attributes and walking behavior ...

CREAT: A CRISPR‐Based Genome Trimming Strategy for Systematic Identification of Dispensable Regions and Rapid Genome Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current genome‐reduction methods work in a trial‐and‐error fashion, constituting a long‐standing bottleneck in the research. We developed CREAT (CRISPR‐based genome trimming with a multi‐homology‐arm template), a CRISPR‐based genetic approach that enables systematically classifying essential versus non‐essential genomic regions and subsequently ...

Conformational Snapshots of CydDC in a Native Lipid Bilayer Coupling Heme Transport to Antibiotic Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.
