Simple dynamics underlying the survival behaviors of ciliates
Ciliates are swimming microorganisms in aquatic environments. Habitats where ciliates accumulate include nutrient-rich solid–liquid interfaces such as pond bottom walls and waterweed surfaces. The ciliates stay near the walls to survive.

Expression of sugarcane COBRA-Like genes, ScBC1 and ScBC1L2, increases plant biomass
Background Cellulose is a major determinant of plant biomass yield and quality, with significant industrial relevance. COBRA proteins are established regulators of cellulose deposition and cell wall organization; however, their roles in sugarcane ...

A piece of gelatin sponge was inoculated submesothelialy in the abdominal wall of female Donryu rats, and 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, or 21 days later, 1 x 10(5) cells of ascites hepatoma AH39 were intraperitoneally transplanted. Tumor cells were detected in the area of gelatin sponge inoculation in each group 2 to 5 days after the transplantation.

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Comparative studies on stem anatomical structure of rice plants with various ploidy level
To investigate the effects of ploidy changes on the stem structure, by using flow cytometry (FCM), we distinguished six different ploidy materials (haploid, diploid, and triploid of line FC311 and haploid, diploid, and tetraploid of line FC322), in rice (
