Minimally invasive strategy of infected pancreatic necrosis

open access: yesВестник хирургии имени И.И. Грекова
Treatment of patients with pancreatic necrosis remains one of the most urgent and complex tasks in emergency surgery. The need for further research in this area is dictated by a high mortality rate (15–70 %).

Nanocatalytic Immunotherapy Targeting Tumor‐Resident Intracellular Bacteria for Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Treatment and Metastasis Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacteria residing within tumor cells contribute to breast cancer progression, but few therapies target their elimination. FeSe2 nanosheets coated with cancer cell membranes accumulate in tumors and generate reactive oxygen species under ultrasound, killing tumor cells and their harbored bacteria at the same time.

Walled-off pancreatic necrosis.

open access: yesThe Netherlands journal of medicine, 2012
Acute severe pancreatitits may be complicated by the development of 'walled-off pancreatic necrosis' (WOPN), which is characterised by a mixture of solid components and fluids on imaging studies as a consequence of organised pancreatic tissue necrosis.

Infected Pancreatic Necrosis Mimicking Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology, 2020
Although infected pancreatic necrosis can develop as a result of rare conditions involving trauma, surgery, and systemic infection with an uncommon pathogen, it usually occurs as a complication of pancreatitis.

Barbed Sutures Are Associated With a Lower Incidence of Incisional Hernia Compared With Continuous Non‐Barbed Monofilament Sutures After Minimally Invasive Gastroenterological Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Incisional hernia remains a common complication after minimally invasive gastroenterological surgery despite small extraction incisions. In this propensity score‐weighted analysis, barbed sutures significantly reduced the incidence of incisional hernia compared with conventional slowly absorbable monofilament sutures without increasing postoperative ...

Direct endoscopic necrosectomy in infected pancreatic necrosis using lumen-apposing metal stents: Early intervention does not compromise outcome

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2021
Background and study aims Infection of pancreatic necrosis is a dreaded complication requiring an intervention. Nevertheless, the optimal timing of the first intervention is unclear, and consensus data are sparse.

Metastasis Pattern‐Specific Biomarkers and Therapeutic Targets in Gastric Cancer: From Surgical Specimens to Clinical Translation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Gastric cancer metastasis should be considered according to its anatomical route, because lymphatic, peritoneal, and hematogenous dissemination involve partly distinct molecular mechanisms. This review summarizes metastasis pattern‐associated and pattern‐specific molecules identified using surgical specimens, evaluates their evidence and translational ...

Gut Health in Ostriches (Struthio camelus): Insights Into Intestinal Structure, Functions, Microbiome, and Improvement Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Our paper systematically reviews the intestinal structure, function, and microbiota of ostriches, along with strategies for improving their gut health. We analyze how these factors collectively influence intestinal homeostasis and ostrich welfare, emphasizing probiotics as a promising intervention to enhance gut health, boost population well‐being, and
