Introduction. Carotid artery stenting (CAS) using conventional (single‐layer) stents is associated with worse clinical outcomes in diabetes mellitus (DM) vs. non‐DM patients: an effect driven largely by lesion‐related adverse events. CAS outcomes with MicroNet‐covered stents (MCS) in diabetic patients have not been evaluated. Aim. To compare short‐ and

Abstract Continuous flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) outflow graft stenosis constitutes a severe complication. Treatment options include surgical pump exchange, transcatheter procedures, or systemic thrombolysis. We present a case of a spontaneous mechanical twisting of the outflow graft at two distinct points, which was treated by a two‐step

Abstract The improvement in left ventricular assist device (LVAD) technology and scarcity of donor hearts have increased dramatically the population of the LVAD‐supported patients and the probability of those patients to present to the emergency department with expected and non‐expected device‐related and patient–device interaction complications.

The new dumbbell‐shaped, covered self‐expanding metallic stent can efficiently remove the choledocholiths in cases with common bile duct (CBD) strictures; moreover, it may potentially prevent a positional displacement and contribute to the better improvement of the CBD stricture.

Peri-procedural brain lesions prevention in CAS (3PCAS). Randomized trial comparing CGuard™ stent vs. wallstent [PDF]
Background: Aim of this study was to evaluate peri-procedural incidence of new diffusion-weighted-magneticresonance- imaging (DWMRI) brain lesions in CAS patients treated by carotid mesh stent (CGuard™) or closed-cell stent (Wallstent™).

Abstract Venous stenting has become a common treatment option for central deep venous outflow obstructions and postthrombotic syndrome. Following successful recanalization and stenting, stent patency is endangered by in‐stent thrombosis and recurrent venous thromboembolism. Antithrombotic therapy might reduce patency loss.

Percutaneous implantation of endoprostheses in the carotid arteries
OBJECTIVE: To assess the in-hospital evolution of patients undergoing percutaneous stent placement in the carotid arteries. METHODS: From August 1996 to April 2001, we studied 86 patients with carotid arterial obliterative lesions > 70% who were treated ...
