PERFORMANCE OF WATER COOLING FOR RADIATION HEAT FLUX FUEL STORAGE TANK

open access: yesASEAN Engineering Journal
Full-surface fire on fuel storage tank emits high radiation heat transfer. As a fire protection strategy, the water curtain cooling system is activated to reduce the temperature on the adjacent tank surface. Therefore, the present work predicts and analyses the radiation heat flux and the maximum flame temperature of different types of fuels.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Water cooling radiator for solid state power supply in fast-axial-flow CO2 laser

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2016
Two different flow channel configurations on thermal resistances associated with the behavior of cooling of power device were studied in this paper. ANSYS Icepak 14.0 has been adopted as a numerical simulation tool. The simulation results from this study showed that the shapes of channels in cooling radiator play an important role in the thermal ...

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...
