Urinary Exosomes and Their Cargo: Potential Biomarkers for Mineralocorticoid Arterial Hypertension?

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2017
Arterial hypertension (AHT) currently affects approximately 40% of adults worldwide, and its pathological mechanisms are mainly related to renal, vascular, and endocrine systems.

A Proof‐of‐Principle Demonstration: Exploring the Effect of Anode Layer Microstructure on the Alkaline Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highlighting the importance of anode microstructure for alkaline OER, ultrasonic spray coating is applied at two different temperatures. This proof‐of‐concept approach yielded varied morphologies, structures, wettability and mechanical strength. These variations led to noticeable performance changes in activity after 8 h of measurements, comparing the ...

Comparison of the Body Composition of Caucasian Young Normal Body Mass Women, Measured in the Follicular Phase, Depending on the Carbohydrate Diet Level

open access: yesMedicina, 2018
Background and objectives: Some publications indicate the possibility of the influence of meal nutritional value on results of bioelectrical impedance, and of the relation between the long-term carbohydrate intake and body composition.

Balanced and functionally balanced $P$-groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In relation to Itzkowitz's problem, we show that a $\mathfrak c$-bounded $P$-group is balanced if and only if it is functionally balanced. We prove that for an arbitrary $P$-group, being functionally balanced is equivalent to being strongly functionally balanced.

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Fluid-electrolyte homeostasis requires histone deacetylase function

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2020
Histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzymes regulate transcription through epigenetic modification of chromatin structure, but their specific functions in the kidney remain elusive. We discovered that the human kidney expresses class I HDACs.

Matchings in balanced hypergraphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We give a new proof of K\"onig's theorem and generalize the Gallai-Edmonds decomposition to balanced hypergraphs in two different ways. Based on our decompositions we give two new characterizations of balanced hypergraphs and show some properties of matchings and vertex cover in balanced hypergraphs.

Exploring Electronic States and Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in AlInP Window Layers: The Role of Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the surface characteristics of AlInP (001), crucial for advanced solar cells and photoelectrochemical devices. Using theoretical modeling and experiments, it identifies how phosphorus‐rich and indium‐rich surfaces create mid‐gap states that pin the Fermi level and influence ultrafast electron dynamics.

Drugs for the treatment of central diabetes insipidus: historical background and modern opportunities

open access: yesОжирение и метаболизм, 2017
Central diabetes insipidus is a severe disease with disturbance of arginine vasopressin secretion, which leads to excretion of large amounts of hypotonic urine.

Balanced Permutation Codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Motivated by charge balancing constraints for rank modulation schemes, we introduce the notion of balanced permutations and derive the capacity of balanced permutation codes. We also describe simple interleaving methods for permutation code constructions and show that they approach ...
