Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Extracellular water, electrolyte and nitrogen balance after postoperative parenteral nutrition and intracellular involvement in muscle.

open access: yes, 1983
Brief periods of fasting or moderate trauma were previously shown to give rise to malnutrition characterized by negative nitrogen balance, reduction of lean body mass and relative increase of body water.

Azaporphyrinoid‐Based Photo‐ and Electroactive Architectures for Advanced Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐standing collaboration between the Torres and Guldi groups has yielded diverse azaporphyrinoid‐based donor‐acceptor nanohybrids with promising applications in solar energy conversion. This conspectus highlights key molecular platforms and structure‐function relationships that govern light and charge management, supporting the rational design of ...

Yttrium nitrate improves the longevity of campanula cut flowers through strengthening the enzymatic antioxidant system and maintaining water balance

open access: yesHorticultural Science
We explored the role of yttrium nitrate (Y(NO3)3) in extending the longevity of campanula cut flowers. The results showed that Y(NO3)3 significantly enhanced the enzymatic antioxidant system, including the superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, ascorbate ...

Water loss management in Blantyre - Malawi

open access: yes, 2010
Water loss in the distribution system is a common problem in Malawi, like in other developing countries worldwide. Blantyre Water Board BWB), established in 1929 under the name Mudi Water Works, the oldest water board in Malawi, is faced with this ...

Fluid and electrolyte balance during dietary restriction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
It is known that during fluid restriction, obligatory water losses continue and hypohydration develops and that restricted energy intake leads to a concomitant restriction of all other dietary components, as well as hypohydration, but the specific ...

Ion‐Reconfigurable “N”‐Shaped Antiambipolar Behavior in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unique N‐shaped negative differential transconductance (NDT) characteristics is demonstrated in single‐polymer organic electrochemical transistors through a sequential doping–redox–doping process driven by iodide ions. This redox‐driven mechanism enables low‐voltage, ion‐controlled reconfigurability and tunable current modulation, allowing seamless ...
