A study of the effects of temperature and salinity on ionoregulation in the alewife, Alosa pseudoharengus, revealed that concentrations of sodium, potassium, and calcium in plasma and muscle were similar in fish adapted to fresh water and those adapted ...

Metabolic acidosis and changes in water and electrolyte balance after maximal exercise.
Ciba Foundation symposium, 1982The purpose of this investigation was to study lactate production and the consequent changes in acid-base status, and in water and electrolyte balance, in response to 1 min of maximal exercise in sprint- and endurance-trained subjects.

Recovery from prolonged exercise: restoration of water and electrolyte balance.
Jurnal sport science, 1997Rapid and complete restoration of fluid balance after exercise is an important part of the recovery process, especially in hot, humid conditions, when sweat losses may be high.

Water-electrolyte balance in overmature fetuses.
Child nephrology and urology, 1990The water and electrolyte contents of various fetal and maternal tissues were studied at the final stage of embryogeny and during prolonged pregnancy. The data indicate that the placenta in prolonged pregnancy can act as a depot organ for water and sodium.

Body water, electrolytes and acid-base balance
1971Man has evolved from primitive forms of water life. He is no longer dependent on an aquatic external environment but the metabolism of his cells still occurs in a medium of water and dissolved salts. Each cell is a little sac of fluid suspended in a surrounding of fluid.

Water, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Balance. Ed 2
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1963The second edition of Water, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Balance , by Dr. Harry F. Weisberg, has the noteworthy addition of many charts and figures to enhance its value to the student and practitioner who is interested in a good, detailed explanation of normal and pathological physiology of body fluids.

Water (electrolyte) balance after abdominal therapeutic treatment.
Strahlentherapie, 1976Total body water, plasma volume and Na space have been studied in 34 patients receiving external radiotherapy on the pelvic region. Determinations were made on the same patients before, and half-way treatment; in a few cases, some determinations were also repeated after the end of treatment.
