Transboundary Water–Energy–Food Nexus Management in Major Rivers of the Aral Sea Basin Through System Dynamics Modelling

open access: yes
Central Asia (CA) faces growing Water–Energy–Food (WEF) Nexus challenges, due to its complex transboundary water management, legacy Soviet-era water infrastructure, and increasing climate and socio-economic pressures.

All‐Amyloid Functional Coacervates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an all‐amyloid interfacial complex coacervate technique that employs charge‐mediated or functionalization‐assisted complexation of oppositely charged food protein‐derived amyloid nanofibrils to engineer functional soft constructs across multiple length scales.

Implementation of water energy food-health nexus in a climate constrained world: a review for South Africa

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
In recent years, the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus has gained significant attention in global research. Spatial inequality in water-energy-food security (WEF) and its impact on public health and how this is affected by climate change remains a grand ...

Esterified Cholesterol Conjugates Enable LNP‐Mediated mRNA Delivery to the Blood–Brain Barrier Following Intravenous Administration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A cholesterol‐conjugated lipid library enabled the identification of a ligand‐free LNP platform for efficient mRNA delivery to brain endothelial cells via systemic administration. This platform achieves selective BBB targeting without disrupting barrier integrity, and enables modulation of neuroinflammation and vascular function without requiring trans‐

Lattice Strain and Built‐In Field Synergistically Boost Urea Oxidation via Dynamic NiOOH Mediation at Multiphase Heterointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A sulfur‐doped lignin‐derived carbon‐coated Ni‐NiO‐MoO2 nanorod array was synthesized, exhibiting enhanced UOR performance ‐ due to lattice‐strain and built‐in electric field effects by multiphase heterogeneous interface in Ni‐NiO‐MoO2@SC, excellent corrosion resistance, mass‐transport ability, and long‐term stability (500 mA cm−2 at 1.53 V for 500 h ...

Self‐Assembling Copolymers Encapsulating Single Endothelial Cells Induce Endogenous ECM Deposition and Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first demonstration of stable sub‐50‐micron single‐cell GPM vesicles fabricated through the intrinsic self‐assembly of an amphiphilic copolymer. Hierarchical assembly of cell containing GPM vesicles into microspheres enable tunable, sustained cell delivery with immune protection.
