STUDY ON TRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF WATER-LUBRICATED BEARINGS
Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, 2008Water-lubricated compound rubber bearings make use of new engineering complex material to replace precious metal as frictional pairs, and natural water to replace mineral oil as lubricant. They enable energy conservation and are environmental friendly and can be widely applied in many engineering fields such as shipping, machinery, petroleum industry,

Material selection criteria for water lubrication
Wear, 1973Abstract The unusual degree of interaction between service performance parameters and material selection for water lubricated contacts is developed. The importance of exploring the full range of variation in operation is stressed. The problems of corrosion, dirt and thin films associated with water lubricants in valves, bearings and seals are ...

Water-lubricated sliding of Al2O3 against steel
Wear, 1994Water-lubricated sliding tests have been carried out in a pin-on-disc machine with alumina pins sliding against steel disc, over a range of speeds from 0.1 to 12.0 $m s^{-1}$. The wear and friction results and analysis of surface and debris indicate the possibility of hydroxide formation in low speed ranges.

WATER‐LUBRICATED BEARINGS FOR MARINE USE
Journal of the American Society for Naval Engineers, 1958The properties of water as a lubricant are discussed and the problems of practical hydrodynamic lubrication with water are shown to be capable of solution. From this basis, two general marine bearing applications are considered, the first involving large relatively low-speed bearings, and the second smaller high-speed bearings.

Water lubrication mechanism of glacier surges
Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1969The author reviews and amplifies his theory of glacier surges. This theory is based on the premise that a glacier surge occurs when a water layer at the base of a glacier attains a thickness sufficient to drown the obstacles in the bed that offer the greatest hindrance to sliding.

Water-lubricated pin-on-disc tests with ceramics
Wear, 1992Several material combinations lubricated with water, were investigated by performing pin-on-disc friction and wear tests. The materials were alumina, zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA), magnesia-partially-stabilized zirconia (PSZ), silicon carbide (SiC), sialon and stainless steel. The best performance under conditions of boundary lubrication was found ...

Rotor Rolling over a Water-Lubricated Bearing
Thermal Engineering, 2018The article presents the results of studying the effect of forces associated with secondary damping coefficients (gyroscopic forces) on the development of asynchronous rolling of the rotor over a water-lubricated bearing. The damping forces act against the background of other exciting forces in the rotor–supports system, in particular, the exciting ...
