General relations among thermodynamic parameters characterizing chemical equilibria with species I-, I3-, I5-, and I2 in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene extraction system have been derived. Furthermore, these relations have been used for calculating equilibrium constants K1aq(I3-) and K2aq(I5-) corresponding to homogeneous reactions I-(aq) + I2(aq ...

Abstract The dynamic condenser method has been used for determination of Volta potentials in water-nitrobenzene partition systems, δ nw wn ψ (MX), as well as determining the difference between surface potentials Δ nw wn χ of both solvents. Values of Δ nw wn ψ o for several electrolytes have been measured and mutual consistency of these date ...

A rapid separation for carrier-free 90Y in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene extraction system from an 90Y/90Sr generator was proposed. After two-stage extraction separation, chemical yield of 90Y in the final aqueous phase was roughly 80%, while 90Sr radionuclide impurity in this phase containing carrier-free 90Y was 10-6%.

Extraction separation of strontium from calcium in the water-nitrobenzene system
A rapid extraction separation of Sr2+ from Ca2+ with the nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate /NaDCC/ in the presence of polyethylene glycol having mean relative molecular weight 400 /PEG 400/ and tetrasodium salt of ethylenediamine-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetic acid /Na4L/ was developed. The separation factor αSr/Ca was approximately 104.

The influence of nitrobenzene and chlorobenzene on the total radiation yield of chloride ions in the γ-irradiation of water-carbon tetrachloride two-phase systems has been determined. Nitrobenzene at small concentrations shows a pronounced protective influence on the radiation destruction of carbon tetrachloride.

Separation of microamounts of yttrium from strontium in the two‐phase water/nitrobenzene system
A rapid and very effective separation of carrier‐free 90 Y in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene system from an 90 Y/90 Sr generator is proposed. After a two‐stage extraction separation, the radionuclide impurity of 90 Sr in the final aqueous phase containing carrier‐free 90 Y is approximately 10 ‐16%, while the chemical yield of 90 Y in this ...

Experimental study of Volta potentials in water/nitrobenzene systems with anion adsorption
Abstract The Volta potential of the water/nitrobenzene interface has been measured in the presence of tetraethylammonium picrate and sodium tetraphenylborate. The effect of the latter salt on the changes in surface potential and surface tension of both water and nitrobenzene-saturated water was also studied.
