Water balance of Lake Gardno

open access: yesLimnological Review, 2019
The article describes the characteristics of water circulation in the coastal Lake Gardno. The water cycle is based on water balance data calculated for the period 2003–2007 concerning hydrological years, including the components of horizontal and ...

Sensitivity of Model-Based Water Balance to Low Impact Development Parameters

open access: yesWater, 2018
Low impact development (LID) strategies aim to mitigate the adverse impacts of urbanization, like the increase of runoff and the decrease of evapotranspiration.

Modelling the water balance of Lake Victoria (East Africa) – Part 1: Observational analysis

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2018
. Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and one of the two major sources of the Nile river. The water level of Lake Victoria is determined by its water balance, consisting of precipitation on the lake, evaporation from the lake, inflow from ...

Water Balance Assessment for Lysimeter Station based on Water Pumping Station Kleče in Ljubljana

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2005
For soil water balance calculation two lysimeters were built on Water Pumping Station of Public Water Supply Company in Ljubljana. Soil water balance (change in storage) was calculated using precipitation, evapotranspiration, and lysimeter outflow ...

Impact of urbanization on groundwater recharge and urban water balance for the city of Hyderabad, India

open access: yes, 2018
Groundwater recharge processes in an urban area are different than in non-urban areas. There are various new components that must be considered in the case of urban groundwater recharge in addition to the natural recharge from precipitation.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Water Intake, Water Balance, and the Elusive Daily Water Requirement

open access: yesNutrients, 2018
Water is essential for metabolism, substrate transport across membranes, cellular homeostasis, temperature regulation, and circulatory function. Although nutritional and physiological research teams and professional organizations have described the daily

The High Speed Water Tunnel three-component balance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1955
An experimental program was initiated in the High Speed Water Tunnel to measure force coefficients for hydrofoils under cavitating conditions. This program necessitated either a new force balance or a major modification of the existing one.
