Crop water budgeting for rainfed cotton for crop planning and management in Coimbatore

open access: yesJournal of Agrometeorology, 2016
Analysis of water balance components was carried out for cotton crop in Annur block of Coimbatore district (11o 14´ to 11o 23´ N latitude and 77o 08´ to 77o 13´E longitude)based on the soil information (1:50, 000scale) and thirty years (1975-2005 ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

The water vapour flux above Switzerland and its role in the August 2005 extreme precipitation and flooding

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2013
The water budget approach is applied to an atmospheric box above Switzerland (hereafter referred to as the “Swiss box”) to quantify the atmospheric water vapour flux using ECMWF ERA-Interim reanalyses.

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Urban Ecohydrology: Accounting for Sub‐Grid Lateral Water and Energy Transfers in a Land Surface Model

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Although urbanization fundamentally alters water and energy cycles, contemporary land surface models (LSMs) often do not include key urban vegetation processes that serve to transfer water and energy laterally across heterogeneous urban land types. Urban

Effects of Xerophytic Vegetation-Salix on Soil Water Redistribution in Semiarid Region

open access: yesAgronomy
Xerophytic vegetation re-regulates and allocates water resources through canopy interception, root water uptake and transpiration, and changes the water budget among precipitation, runoff, interception and infiltration, thus having a significant impact ...
