TARSO modeling of water table depths [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 1999
Threshold autoregressive self‐exciting open‐loop (TARSO) models are fitted to six time series of water table depths with precipitation excess as input variable. Basically, these models are nonlinear in structure because they incorporate several regimes which are separated by so‐called thresholds.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Assessment of metallic contamination in sediment and mullet fish (Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758) tissues from the East Algerian coast

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development, 2018
The present work was designed to assess the contamination level in the coastal of Annaba, following the spectrophotometric determination of the level of some metallic elements (Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni and Cd) in the sediments along an increasing bathymetric ...

Scanning lidar bathymeter for water depth measurement

open access: yesGeocarto International, 1986
A scanning lidar bathymeter has been developed for airborne hydrographic surveying. The system has a depth penetration capability of four optical diffuse attenuation lengths, with an accuracy of ±0.3 m.From an altitude of 500 m the system generates a swath 270 m wide and a uniform sounding density on a 35 m grid spacing with a positioning accuracy of ∼

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Seed Germination Indicates Adaptive Transgenerational Plasticity in a Submerged Macrophyte

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Adaptive transgenerational plasticity is an important evolutionary strategy in plants. We investigated the resource allocation strategy in sexual reproduction and performed an in situ seed germination experiment of Potamogeton maackianus to reveal their ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Hindcasting Maximum Water Depths in Coastal Watersheds: The Importance of Incorporating Off‐Channel Data and Their Uncertainties in Machine Learning Models

open access: yesWater Resources Research
In the absence of adequate observations on the off‐channel areas, flood models are typically trained and validated against stream water depths. This approach can be efficient for physics‐based models, which incorporate the underlying physical processes ...

Estimation of physical microhabitat suitability for Koreoleptoxis globus (Mollusca: Gastropoda) using probability distribution models

open access: yesJournal of Ecology and Environment
Background: Koreoleptoxis globus is an endangered candidate species of snail in South Korean streams. This species primarily inhabits streams characterized by fast current velocities and coarse-particle streambed substrates.
