YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

A Flushing Duration Model for a Campaign against Contamination in Water Distribution Systems [PDF]
Contamination poses a significant risk to public health by degrading water quality in water distribution systems (WDSs). As one of the key tasks of a response strategy to contamination incidents in a WDS, pipe system flushing has been widely implemented ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Welfare and Distribution Effects of Water Pricing Policies [PDF]
In this paper, distribution and welfare effects of changes in block price systems are evaluated. A method is discussed to determine, for a Marshallian demand function, equivalent variation in case of a block price system. The method is applied to analyze

First- and Second-Order Sensitivities of Steady-State Solutions to Water Distribution Systems
First-order approximations have been used with some success for criticality analysis; sensitivity analysis of physical networks, such as water distribution systems; and uncertainty propagation of model parameters.

Coordinated recovery of interdependent power and water distribution systems
The interdependent nature of power and water distribution systems (WDSs), which magnifies the impact of power outages caused by extreme weather, offers an opportunity to coordinate recovery actions towards enhancing their resilience after a major outage ...

Sizing Behind-the-Meter Solar PV Systems for Water Distribution Networks
This study investigates three methods for sizing behind-the-meter (BTM) solar PV systems for pumped water distribution networks (WDNs). The three methods are (1) the industry method based on current industry practices, (2) the minimum total life cycle ...

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
