Water Dynamics in Hydrated Carboxylated Cellulose Nanofibril Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) are a class of materials with good mechanical properties, surface functionality and bio-/environmental friendliness. They have been used in many applications as loading material or function materials, where water-cellulose ...

How Natural Materials Remove Heavy Metals from Water: Mechanistic Insights from Molecular Dynamics Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Heavy metals are captured by hemicellulose from water: modeling and simulations. Classical and ab initio molecular dynamics aided by metadynamics. Relevant to the understanding of removal of heavy metals from water sources with natural materials, e.g ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

ESTIMATION CODMN IN GUANGZHOU SECTION OF PEARL RIVER BASED ON GF-1 IMAGES [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2018
Due to the way that remote sensing works, it has natural advantage to detect optical constituents in waters. And many kinds of inversion models were constructed based on the three main optical constituents, namely chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), suspended ...

Soil water dynamics and water use efficiency in spring maize (Zea mays L.) fields subjected to different water management practices on the Loess Plateau, China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Soil water supply is the main limiting factor to crop production across the Loess Plateau, China. A 2-year field experiment was conducted at the Changwu agro-ecosystem research station to evaluate various water management practices for achieving ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Reaction Dynamics of Cyanohydrins with Hydrosulfide in Water [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2019
We studied the reaction dynamics of a proposed prebiotic reaction theoretically. The chemical process involves acetone cyanohydrin or formalcyanohydrin reacting with hydrosulfide in an aqueous environment. Rate constants and populations of reactant and product bimolecular geometric orientations for the reactions were obtained by using density ...

Stochastic soil water dynamics of phreatophyte vegetation with dimorphic root systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
As the direct uptake of deep groundwater by vegetation may be essential in semiarid regions, we incorporated this process in stochastic root zone water balance models.
